Wednesday 5 September 2012

I'm sure something special happened on the 5th September one year... a sort of IWSG post

It's the first Wednesday of the month, which means it's time for another insecure post. You know the drill by now, and if you don't click the logo in the right-hand side-bar to find out all about the wonderful Alex J Cavanaugh and his fantastic blogfest.

Except, once again, I'm not feeling overly insecure. This has happened about three times since the very first post almost a year ago (we're two days short of a full year). That's not bad, is it, three secure moments in a year! (Well, I hope there have been more than that, or else I'm in BIG TROUBLE!)

The reason this time is because I'm writing a new novella, rewriting some old stories to keep my submission levels up (I've been very bad at submitting this last year or so), I have a short story online at Alfie Dog Fiction and... it's my wedding anniversary today!

14 years!

I know, I'm not old enough to have been married for 14 years, right?? LOL!

I would post pictures, but this was before digital photography so the photos are actually in a big box stored in a big inaccessible cupboard. Just so you know: I look fifteen and very scared, and Hubby is wearing big round 1990s glasses which makes it look as though I'm marrying Harry Potter. There, that's enough description to help you imagine the scene.

Anyway, I'm probably not going to be around much today, but I'll try my best to visit insecure writers tomorrow.

Is anyone else celebrating today?

  1. Wait... three whole secure moments in the same year? I'd say that's pretty spectacular.

  9. Happy Anniversary - 14 years is great (and no you don't look old enough to be married that long). The nice thing about getting older is less insecurity (I think). Sounds like you are on a writing roll and that just builds confidence. Well, enjoy your celebration

    1. Aw how sweet of you! I definitely feel more secure in myself than I did 14 years ago. I have much less concern about what other people think of me, which means I'm much more myself when I meet new people. And the writing is finally starting to pay off - yay! (That's been more like a 22 year relationship!)

(I shouldn't joke about that...I live in West Virginia and marrying at 15 isn't totally unheard of...for the record I was 23.)

  24. Hey,

    Happy belated 14th anniversary :)

Doesn't it make you feel old when, instead of clicking on a picture folder on the laptop, you stop looking under the bed... put your hands on your lap and try to remember where the box of pictures are :)

  29. Three times worth of not being an insecure writer has got to be a major good sign. I know it would be for me!! Hope you had a great anniversary and of course you don't look old enough. You must have been married when you were ten. That's what I always tell people when they say I don't look old enough to have a son in his forties!

  33. Happy Anniversary, Annalisa. Such a beautiful name. Happy IWSG, sorry I'm late. Sept 5th was a beautiful sunny day and I sat out on the deck and read a bit. That may not sound like anything special, but winter's right around the corner. In fact today I'm freezing. My dear hubby built me a fire in the fireplace though, and now I'm toasty warm. I'm rambling, which must mean it's time to make dinner. I ramble when I'm hungry. Nice meeting you, Annalisa. I'm now a new follower.
