I live in Cornwall UK, with a good supply of beaches and
moorland right on my doorstep to keep me inspired. I live with my husband, two
sons, a dog and a cat.
Despite my location, I neither surf nor sail, and never had
any inclination to try. I prefer walking along a deserted beach and listening
to the waves crashing over rocks. For this reason, I really love the beach in
the winter!
I write dark contemporary, character-driven stories, dealing
with the confusion, deceit, surprise and enjoyment of life; adding paranormal
elements when the reader is least expecting it. I write mostly about
relationships: romantic, parent-child, waitress-customer, killer-victim, teenager
and the poster on her wall. I am endlessly fascinated by the way people treat
each other.
I have been winning competitions and publishing short
stories in small press journals for many years. I am the author of three books:
Cat and The Dreamer (2012), That Sadie Thing (2013) and Our Beautiful Child
(2014). I am the 3rd Place winner of the Costa Short Story Award
2015.
