Argh! Where has the time gone? #IWSG

Welcome to my insecurities! IWSG is a monthly group where us writers have a communal meltdown, and offer advice. (Because - let's face it - you and I might be having the same insecurities, but have no problem offering great advice to each other!)

Check out the list of participants right here!

It's another non-writing insecurity this month - and I'm not going to be around much to visit/comment/reply (but I totally will on Thursday!) - because...

Argh! My baby is 15!

Me and my baby!
In September, he'll be starting his final year at school, applying to college, taking exams...

Argh! My baby is 15!

The weird thing is, I don't feel fifteen years older. I feel exactly the same as I did then, albeit not quite so scared as when I had this 9lb bundle thrust into my arms and I was suddenly a mother. That kind of fear is quite unique!

So, if you want me today, I'll be lying down somewhere, probably with a glass of wine.

Happy insecurities, everyone!

  1. Hi Annalisa .. congratulations to the 15 year old! Surely you should be taking him out - not having a fit of the vapours and a glass of vino?! Perhaps if the Argh monster looks like this .. it'd be better to wait til he morphs into something with fewer teeth! Have a wonderful family day though .. cheers Hilary

    1. We did take him out to lunch, the cinema and then a family gathering in the evening. I think his words on Facebook were 'best birthday ever', so we did something right :-)

  4. Happy Birthday to your baby! :) And I know what you mean. My grandmother used to say that as you get older you expect to feel wiser, but you pretty much always feel like that seventeen year old you were, you just look older. ;)

    1. Yes! That's exactly how I feel. I always thought I was the only one, and everyone else was being a sensible grown-up. It's good to know otherwise :-)

  7. Happy birthday to your son! Bask in the glow of accomplishment - sounds like he's doing well if he's looking to exams and college. 15 is a tough age. You - drink some wine, have some chocolate, and be grateful for your age and wisdom. (and you are young - give me a break)

  8. I love these moments that remind us how much we've grown, even if we don't realize it. Happy birthday to your son, and here's to epic parents everywhere!

    2. We had pizza, saw Guardians of the Galaxy (epic, right there) and spent the evening with family listening to Hubby play music at a gig. He had a great time :-)

  12. Yeah, I remember when my daughter started second grade and I thought it would be forever before she graduated high school. Now she's only four years from college. Where did all the time go?

    How did that happen?

    1. I've decided not to get older - everyone else can, but I've had enough with ageing - I'm staying right here ;-)

  22. 15? That young? My youngest is 26 and my oldest is 37. Talk about feeling older! And yet, like you, I don't feel mentally much older than way back before I had any kids. This time thing needs to stop--or at least slow down.
