The post without a title

This was a very warm day - despite the clouds.
Downderry, Cornwall.
I am feeling summery today. The sun is shining, it's the school half-term holiday, and I'm lovely and warm because the heating is on.

Yes, you've spotted the problem - it isn't summer. It's still the middle of winter. The roofs are frosty, and if I actually opened the back door I'd be greeted with an icy blast.

Plymouth Hoe
So, to make myself feel better, I delved into my archives and found some previous summery pictures!

Almost certainly Dawlish

What are your plans for the week? Are you desperate for a change in the season? Are your summer dresses/t-shirts mocking you from your wardrobe? Are you planing to cover yourself in fake tan to kid yourself it's summer really?*

*ahem! Not that I'm doing that, of course!

    1. These photos are from nearby, but not my home town - they were just all from lovely days last year. But yes, I'm on the way to Penzance!

  2. Yay for Dawlish!

I've noticed a lot of people saying the same thing today. It looks gorgeous but it's still cold!

Maybe I can brighten your day with an email now I have some level of internet connection! :D

    1. I was only 90% sure it was Dawlish :-) And yes, the email did brighten my day!

  3. I wish it would warm up enough to go bike riding.
Yes, I know some people ride their bikes in the winter, but I am not one of them!

    1. I agree, bike riding should be done on warm days, especially if you cycle past a pub with a beer garden :-)

  4. I was just whining to my husband yesterday that I am so ready for spring! I'm in Minnesota, so plenty of snow and cold here as well. The groundhog said we'd have an early spring, but I think he may be a liar. ;)

    1. I think the reason I'm so ready is we've had such a grey winter - we didn't even get the snow that the rest of the country had. Hope your early spring happens soon!

  5. We had a cold spell here in FL, but it should be warming up soon. Looking forward to bike riding and to letting the tortoises go for a wander outside in the courtyard. :)

  6. *Sigh* - lovely pics! I've been watching Cornwall with Caroline Quentin and have pangs of longing. It's beautiful here, and not even cold! The heating's off and I've even had the back door open. Washing on the line, too! Won't last! Enjoy your day!

    1. I keep missing that programme. I'm jealous of your back door and washing line. We've got a bedroom window open, but that's because we've been decorating and the fumes are playing havoc with Hubby's lungs. It's very cold :-(

  7. My wardrobe is being particularly cruel to me this week and it's all self-imposed. I went and bought some lovely bright summer tops from M&S but, like you say, the sun is shining yet it's too cold to wear them!

    1. I've always thought shops sell summer clothes far too early. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to wear your tops :-)

  8. Although I am missing the summer weather, warmth and sunshine (big time), I was in the store yesterday and saw skimpy bathing suits put out on display. Walking by with a donut in one hand and a coffee in the other, I thought, oh no, I am so NOT ready for that! LOL

    1. Lol, I know that feeling! For me it's my white, pasty legs which really shouldn't be seen out, ever!

  9. I am so ready for summer, but at 8000 feet, it is a few months off yet. I went for a jog yesterday because the sun was bright and the temps were actually in the 20s. I was so excited to let the sun wash over me, but it was still just cold. Sigh. I want to dig in my gardens, go to the lake, sit out on my deck and read, and feel the sun. WHINE!

    1. No, it's not, Elizabeth - it's a pub. I wish I lived there though, it's so peaceful, but a little bit too far away from a good city for me. Yeah, my kids are ageing quicker than they should be as well :-(

  13. So a swim before bedtime is in order?

    1. I'm not a good swimmer - I tend to paddle close to the edge, or sit on rocks and just listen to the sound of waves crashing!

  14. I guess I'm not sitting here desperate for the seasons to change. This year has been a very mild winter (boy I'm gonna regret typing that). It's been mild, no snow, very little rain and most days have been in the fifties. Pretty much, it already feels like spring.

  17. Fabulous pictures! It is summer here in South Africa at the moment and I am kind of enjoying it. It is not as hot as other summers, which is a huge relief. But I don't think I am ready for winter yet. I am still trying to shake off the pounds from last winter!

  18. Enjoying our cool spell these days...extreme heat will be here soon enough, and then we'll all be wishing it was so much cooler. Still, I wouldn't want to be buried in snow and freezing all winter, so it's all good.

  19. We had some really lovely weather. Now we're back to colder stuff. That's OK. I'm starting to feel much better, which is my only goal this week besides getting ready for my next book.

  20. Those pictures look beautiful. I have to admit that I like winter better than summer; I like it when it's really cold out, because then I can put on my flannel pajamas and snuggle under the covers. But then again I'm biased because I live in Chicago, where it feels like winter most of the time.

  22. Hey, extreme heat happens to be my favorite weather! Right now the winter footing is pretty ... interesting. I was just moving critters around behind the barn and each step was different, on moment I was picking my way across a sheet of ice, the next I was hip deep in a dense snow drift.

My plans for the week include hoping we get enough snow to cover the ice so I don't have to worry about the horses getting injured. Working youngsters, and finishing up the first draft I'm working on.

    Stay warm everyone.

  23. No fake tan needed :D and since I live in So.Cal., it's already summer. Several of my friends were at the beach for Presidents Day.

Hmmm, after reading your post, I'm thinking I should go out and enjoy the sunshine a little more.
