Happy Saturday

Today is a great day, because after Hubby being away for two weeks he's back! He's been touring around Europe with a wonderful Belgian singer called Nele (pronounced Nay-lah). So after missing the last fourteen or so gigs that they've played together, I'm going to four this weekend. Sun, music and cider - sounds perfect, doesn't it?

And here's a song they sing together, recorded when Nele was in England last year. It's a cover of the Civil Wars song, Poison and Wine.

    1. 1 down, 3 to go! Pretty exhausted already, so I don't know how the performers are feeling :-)

  5. I didn't know your husband was a guitarist! Very cool. I couldn't sing and play at the same time as well as he does though. I'd confuse myself.

    1. I speak as someone who can't drive because I can't do two things at once... so I know what you mean :-)

  6. I used to sing French songs for people at a Belgian resort (1 of the 9 languages I taught myself to sing in). I'm glad I'm retired now, but I'm glad your hubby's doing what he loves. :-)

  10. Hi Annalisa .. they sound great concerts - so fabulous that your hubby's been touring and getting his name out there .. and I love their voices together ..

My kind of music! Looks like ice-cream weather rather than heady cider?!

    Cheers Hilary

    1. It was Pimms instead of cider, in the end. Hubby loved every minute.

  11. Such beautiful voices. Really quite impressive. Funny how so many singers sound so great on the radio and then when you see them live, they sound awful. Makes you wonder how so many very talented singers with such great sounds don't get to have that spotlight.

And was that a castle in the background? I so want to come to England and see all the history!!

    1. A couple of the gigs they did this weekend were completely unplugged, and they still sounded great :-)

It's the Royal Citadel in the background, home of 29 Commando, a specialist British Army unit. It was built in 1660. Just round the corner from it are the Mayflower Steps where the Pilgrim Fathers departed from.

    1. It's a fantastic song, isn't I? I am very proud of him. I have collapsed after just two days of being with them - they've had two weeks and gone from Belgium to Germany, Holland and England - a lot of travelling!

    1. Thanks Gary, I am mildly proud :-) Actually, it was only the tiredness I had to recover from. I didn't think drinking a lot and then having a two-hour Cornish-road journey home was a good idea!
