And here's a song they sing together, recorded when Nele was in England last year. It's a cover of the Civil Wars song, Poison and Wine.

Happy Saturday
Today is a great day, because after Hubby being away for two weeks he's back! He's been touring around Europe with a wonderful Belgian singer called Nele (pronounced Nay-lah). So after missing the last fourteen or so gigs that they've played together, I'm going to four this weekend. Sun, music and cider - sounds perfect, doesn't it?

Sounds like a wonderful time. Enjoy!
ReplyDelete1 down, 3 to go! Pretty exhausted already, so I don't know how the performers are feeling :-)
DeleteI hope you enjoy it, because it does sound like great fun. Great song! Your husband is really talented.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful song. I actually prefer this version to the original!
DeleteBeautiful song. Enjoy the cider in the sunshine! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to, Kirsten :-)
DeleteThat's wonderful you'll get to see four shows.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a long weekend though!
DeleteI didn't know your husband was a guitarist! Very cool. I couldn't sing and play at the same time as well as he does though. I'd confuse myself.
ReplyDeleteI speak as someone who can't drive because I can't do two things at once... so I know what you mean :-)
DeleteI used to sing French songs for people at a Belgian resort (1 of the 9 languages I taught myself to sing in). I'm glad I'm retired now, but I'm glad your hubby's doing what he loves. :-)
ReplyDeleteNine languages? Impressive! What are they all?
DeleteSounds amazing, have fun at those gigs.
ReplyDeleteIt was great, but tiring. I don't know how they did it for two weeks when I couldn't handle two days!
DeleteSounds like a brilliant weekend. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was fantastic. Recovering now by lying down as I type :-)
DeleteSun, music and wine do indeed sound a perfect combination. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patsy, I did :-)
DeleteHi Annalisa .. they sound great concerts - so fabulous that your hubby's been touring and getting his name out there .. and I love their voices together ..
ReplyDeleteMy kind of music! Looks like ice-cream weather rather than heady cider?!
Cheers Hilary
It was Pimms instead of cider, in the end. Hubby loved every minute.
DeleteSuch beautiful voices. Really quite impressive. Funny how so many singers sound so great on the radio and then when you see them live, they sound awful. Makes you wonder how so many very talented singers with such great sounds don't get to have that spotlight.
ReplyDeleteAnd was that a castle in the background? I so want to come to England and see all the history!!
A couple of the gigs they did this weekend were completely unplugged, and they still sounded great :-)
DeleteIt's the Royal Citadel in the background, home of 29 Commando, a specialist British Army unit. It was built in 1660. Just round the corner from it are the Mayflower Steps where the Pilgrim Fathers departed from.
I love that song. You must be very proud of him. Hope you're surviving all the live performances ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic song, isn't I? I am very proud of him. I have collapsed after just two days of being with them - they've had two weeks and gone from Belgium to Germany, Holland and England - a lot of travelling!
DeleteOh this song is so great-- thanks for sharing your husband's and Nele's talent. What a creative duo you are.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it :-)
DeleteHave a great time! Personally I can't stand the sun and avoid it where possible, but that's just me :D
ReplyDeleteI hate it being too hot, but there was a lovely sea breeze that helped a lot.
Deletep.s. I really enjoyed teh song - they sound great together!
ReplyDeleteThank you :-)
DeleteHave a great time.. sounds like so much fun:)
ReplyDeleteFun and tiring, and despite a whole Sunday in the sun barely a tan :-)
DeleteSounds like you had a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun.
DeleteVery nice, music! I especially like when they sing together in harmony.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy.

Nele's normal style is very different and quirky, so when I first heard this song I was pretty blown away.
Deleteway too cool. Glad you could see and hear them perform, plus enjoy some cider.
ReplyDeleteBeing official groupie/roadie takes it's toll after a while - still unsure how they kept up the pace for two weeks!
DeleteFun! Hope it was a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it was. And now I'm taking two days to recover... that's what getting old does to a girl!! :-(
DeleteBeautiful song and beautiful setting! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. x
ReplyDeleteI agree! Yes, it was a great weekend.
DeleteAny guy with a guitar, shaggy hair and a beard has my approval. You done well :) Great song too, wow!!!

Lol, thanks Sarah, I think so too :-)
DeleteWhat a talented pair! I've never heard that song but it's lovely. It springboards several stories into my head :)
ReplyDeleteMusic is awesome inspiration, isn't it?
DeleteWow, Annalisa! That was absolutely wonderful. Such talent and I can see why you are so proud. Me thinks you had a great weekend and the recovery is in full swing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gary, I am mildly proud :-) Actually, it was only the tiredness I had to recover from. I didn't think drinking a lot and then having a two-hour Cornish-road journey home was a good idea!
DeleteThat's a wonderful song. Nice vocals. I hope you had a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Medeia, it was lovely.
