My week!

I didn't realise it had been a whole week since I wrote my last post. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun! Once more I realise I've been very slack at blog-visiting. Here's a list of what I've been doing instead:
My new hat
  • Writing the posts for my blog tour which will start on the 3 June.
  • Eating dessert! My dad's birthday cake, followed by #1 son's lemon cheesecake, followed by a rhubarb crumble. Yes, it does sound like I ate them all on one day... (yes, I did eat them all on one day!)
  • A lot of novel re-writing, with a good amount of red-penning, quite a lot of crossing out, several brand new chapters and I'm only half way through - so technically, even though this is a post about not being around very much, I've still got a little way to go yet.
  • My first overnight stay at a music festival, where I listened to some great music - including Hubby - bought a hat, got very cold, got sun-burnt, planned to buy an exotic burger and then totally forgot. I enjoyed it, but learnt I'm not cut out for overnight stays at music festivals.
So, anyway, that was my week. I've been really surprised at the amount of writing I've got done. This is a novel that I thought was complete last year - I even had several people read it before I lost confidence in it - but suddenly, as I mentioned, I've added new chapters to fill in the quite large gaps and rearranged some of the other chapters. Awesome, but slightly more work than I'd anticipated...

If you could paraphrase your weeks' worth of posts, that would help a lot...
(just kidding!)

  1. Hi Annalisa - you have been busy .. with that amount of cake inside me .. I'd have still been lying down!! Oh gosh staying overnight at a Festival = no thank you .. but you did I guess to give your husband some extra support - good for you ...

Then congratulations on all that writing .. and now have a fun week ahead .. cheers Hilary

  2. What a busy bee! Seriously I don't know where the time goes, the last week especially, so can relate to that! An overnight music festival, well I've never done that but it sounds like a experience. Could do the cake and other desserts though!

    1. It was quite a small festival in Plymouth, so at least we hadn't travelled far for it! It was definitely an experience :-)

  3. Such a marvelous review of what sounds like a completely fantabulous week! I'm a hat person myself, and yours is soooo cute! All those desserts sound positively delicious! Glad you're having so much fun. Enjoy! And have a great week:)

  5. Music festivals? Yes, yes and yes! Staying overnight? Depends. If it means roughing it up with a sleeping bag in a tent... then no thank you. I'm definitely not a camping-out kinda person. I love my creature comforts.

    1. We camped in the back of a Transit van that Hubby has kitted out. Still very cold though - there are a few tweeks we can make to improve the experience!! A plumbed-in bathroom for one :-)

    1. Thanks Tara... I've been writing for far too long to lose confidence forever - besides, I'm far too stubborn :-)

  8. Rewriting is flaming hard work, isn't it?
the music festival - tell me you didn't sleep in a tent? On the ground? With no hot water bottle? you did? Oh dear!

    1. We were in a van, but there were no creature comforts at all. And it was so cold... :-(

  9. All those desserts sound heavenly! My week has been full of sweets as well. Cupcakes from my daughter's graduation party, chocolates, and peanut butter cup ice cream - just because it was on sale ;)
I know what you mean about the rewrites. I am working on a novel I thought was finished a year ago. Suddenly I have all kinds of new ideas for it.
Wishing you all the best with your rewrites!

    1. Yay for the sweet stuff :-) It is great when a novel comes to life again, isn't it? Good luck with yours too.

  10. Preparing for a blog tour is hard work!
No way I could stay overnight for a music festival. Way too old for that kind of stuff. Actually, I wouldn't have done it when I was younger either.

    1. I sent out all the posts last night, so fingers crossed I'm done. I'm going to happily be a non-music festivaler from now on - although going for the day is great... mostly because I don't drive so I can still have a drink if I want one :-)

  11. Don't worry about my weeks worth of posts because I'm terrible at blogging! I've got to get back in the habit. Sounds like you have most definitely been having fun! *jealous!* And now I'm craving all those desserts!!!

  16. I only have two posts for the past weeks, so... I spent most of it eating croissants, nuttella, chocolate, icecream, expensive steaks and michelin food (the Dutch REALLY know how to entertain people). Also, died of the cold since I packed for spring, so got to do shopping in Paris... mmm... Saw the Eiffel Tower sparkling at night, Versailles, most of the sights, the French countryside, and then The Hague, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

    So yeah... pretty intense week.

Glad to see you got so much writing done. Keep it up!

    Good luck on the book!

  20. Okay, here I am one day after the day you posted about your week that just happened. Despite it being a busy week and you being at a music festival with your musical hubby, you managed to get some writing done. With all that distraction, perhaps that helped further inspiration with your writing.

    I'm going now....

  22. Hello, it's my first time visiting your blog -what a great week. Mine wasn't too bad either, apart from the paying job I ran a 3 day free ebook promotion on amazon, and went to my daughter's engagement party.Good fun but tiring! I'll be here again...

  23. Any week with cake is a good one. Add music and it's glorious, though I admit I wouldn't be big on overnight festival. Still - very cool. Sounds like you accomplished a lot in writing so don't sell yourself short. Looking forward to your blog tour - that's a lot of work.

    1. Yes, the tour is a lot of work. I've done the posts now though, so that's the hardest part done... I just hope I sent the right post to the right person :-)

  25. I'm always re-writing things! I once read that a writer never finishes his work; he abandons it. I think of that a lot, because I tend to over-edit. Published writers have even said they would change their already published books if they could! We just have to say, it's done, and move on. :-)

    1. I can edit and edit until it's actually published, then I just accept it as it is. Over-editing is a problem for me too sometimes.
