The lovely Neurotic Workaholic gave me the Liebster Award a couple of weeks ago. As I've been blogging for almost three years, I've had most of the awards going, at one time or another - just check out the blog awards tab above! But, occasionally, I'm moved for reasons known only to myself to accept the award properly. The reason is this:
Isn't it pretty? I just had to have it on my blog!
To accept the award I am supposed to write 11 random facts about myself, answer the questions from my nominator, and nominate 11 people to receive the award.
There won't be any facts because there are no more facts I can tell you without repeating myself (yep, I'm still boring), but here are the questions:
1. What's your favourite cancelled television show? Firefly (yes, I'm a closet nerd!)
2. Which show do you wish would get cancelled? Anything that starts with the word 'Celebrity'.
3. If you could meet any author, who would it be? Margaret Atwood. But if she was held up at the hairdresser or something, Maya Angelou would be fascinating too. In fact, I might just need to have a dinner party, because I can think of several more at least!
4. If you could relive high school, would you? Maybe.
5. Why would you want/not want to relive high school? I'd like to go back with my current level of adult confidence and confront my bullies - they can also have their current level of adult confidence, because I imagine I'd be leaps and bounds ahead of them on that score by now.
6. If you could meet the characters of any book, which book would it be? Avoiding the obvious answer of all the Pride and Prejudice characters (which should be taken as read, by now!), I'm going to go for the women from The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood - I've never really experienced a tight knit group of female friends, so it would be interesting to see their dynamics at work.
7. What do you like best about writing/blogging? I've been more successful at building relationships on my blog than through Twitter. Twitter is silly and my blog is much better!
8. How would you like to spend your summer vacation? On the coast - any coast - where the sun would be shining everyday (not Britain, then) and with enough paper to write the first draft of a novel. Long lazy BBQs, playing Frisbee and cricket on the beach with my kids, waking up late, staying up late and actually achieving a tan! (Random fact: I don't tan or burn.)
I am not going to nominate anyone (sorry, but I can never decide who to choose, I want to choose everyone) but I would like you to answer this single question in the comments below:
If you weren't a writer and awesome blogger, what would you be doing right now
(either generally for a job/career or specifically right at this very moment)?
Congrats on the award again. on my first blog I had almost every award but this time round finding it hard to get my followers back.
ReplyDeleteIf I were not blogging? I suppose I would be traveling somewhere,
Yvonne.
Well, I'm following you now Yvonne and I wasn't before - perhaps new followers are where you should be focusing. Travel sounds lovely, I like to do that one day.
DeleteCongrats on the Liebster, and to answer your question...I'd be a French teacher I suppose...I love French, but not as much as English though :). Kisses Annalisa.
ReplyDeleteCool. My French teacher at school was old and mumbled, not a good combination. Have you ever thought to write in French then?
DeleteCongratulations on the award. I love your answers, though I would never go back to high school. Not even if someone would pay me a lot of money. If I was not writing, I would probably be a lot more whiny person, still jumping from temp job to temp job. Sorry, I don't have a better answer.
ReplyDeleteLol, I'm sure you wouldn't be a whiny person. And temp jobs are great - no time to get bored!
Deletecongrats again. :) still wasting timem on the internet. i might be a nature photographer.
ReplyDeleteI think we'd all be wasting time on the internet, it's such fun! A very creative alternate job - I wish I had a second creative outlet sometimes, but I'm useless at everything apart from writing :-)
DeleteFighting the split personality keeping me from my writing dream. Congrats on the award.
ReplyDeleteLol, great answer :-)
DeleteHi! I am happy to host you any time and would gladly be part of the book tour. If I was not a writer/obsessed with writing, I would be baking right now, probably, and I might have started my own tea room or lunch delivery business!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda - you'll already have seen my email :-)
DeleteI love the tea room idea, especially if you combined a bookshop... and really big Victoria sponges :-)
Well - my career was done before I started to write, so no change there, but right now?If I wasn't reading your blog - interesting answers, BTW - I'd be reading or watching television. And perhaps doing a bit of crochet. Or bottling the marmalade I made yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've completely forgotten how to watch TV without my laptop on my lap - that's so terrible isn't it? If you make your own bread to go with that marmalade, I'm on the next plane out to you!!
DeleteGreat answers, Annalisa! I love Margaret Atwood, we use a lot of her poems for speech. I haven't read The Robber Bride, though, I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI've never read her poetry, but I adore her novels. Although The Robber Bride is my favourite, I don't actually own it!
DeleteCongrats on receiving the 'Lobster' award again :) Twitter is silly. Through blogging you've got to interact with such amazing folks. BBQ? In Britain? Why not. Right then, 'I'm a Blogging Celebrity, Get me out of here!'.....
ReplyDeleteGary
Lol, whenever I see the word 'Liebster' I think 'lobster'. Of course, BBQ in Britain - you just have to have the right gear: raincoats, umbrellas and thick jumpers :-)
DeleteI miss Firefly too...:) Hmm, if I wasn't a writer, i'd want to be an archeologist. Happy to help out with the blog tour too:) Send me an email.
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated with archeology - but I'm probably best watching from my armchair. I'm far too cack-handed, I'd just end up breaking priceless pottery or something :-)
DeleteI'd have to think long and hard about that re-living high school question. hmmmmm..... :)
ReplyDeleteIt's probably not most people's favourite thing to do!
DeleteLove your answers Annalisa, though as said above, I'm not sure about going back to high school!
ReplyDeleteI realise now that was a quirky answer :-)
DeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteOnly happy people get Liebster-ed more than once ;)
PS... *Thanks* again for the Happy Meme and I have posted my response today, Monday :)
I loved your post, Mark, thanks for taking part :-)
DeleteI with you on #2. :)
ReplyDeleteI would probably own a bookstore or do something related to books and reading. Probably on a coast somewhere. :)
I love the idea of a bookshop!
Delete"Anything that starts with the word 'celebrity'" hahaha!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou should hear me when I rant in person about that subject... :-)
DeleteCongrats on receiving the award, again and you're right, it is lovely. I never tire of reading the random facts post about my blogger friends. I would love to go back to high school, with my current adult level of maturity and confidence. That would rock! I have connected with far more people on my blog than with Twitter, but I have finally started understanding Twitter (just a little bit) & I do like it much more, now. My problem is, I don't really get how to stay connected with friends on there because each time I open it there are so many tweets and they scroll by so fast. Am I the only person in the world who doesn't understand how you keep a dialogue going with someone on Twitter? It seems to me that the only way to stay on top of it is to be connected to it 24/7. I'm sure there has to be a way, but my brain is rejecting it, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people utilise lists, or use Tweetdeck etc, which is supposed to make it easier. I have no idea about all that - I just catch up with people when I can, but I also miss a lot of stuff too. 24/7 Twitter would drive me mad!!
DeleteCongrats on the award! I don't even want to relive high school with my adult confidence. Life is much better now. :)
ReplyDeleteI think most people agree with you Christine, I'm in the freaky minority :-)
DeleteHey, I just awarded you the sunshine award on my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Murees, that's so lovely of you :-)
DeleteI miss Firefly, too. Le siiiigh. I was always confrontational, so not much fun to bully, but I don't think I'd want to repeat high school. Maybe. Shrug. Nah. Unless I could be 17 again, keep the writing knowledge I have now & all other knowledge. Then I'd have a very long writing career ahead of me. :D
ReplyDeleteBeing a 17 year old writer with all your experience would be awesome, wouldn't it? Just think how many books you could have published by now!
DeleteI love firefly! You have to just love Captain Mal :)
ReplyDeleteSarah Allen
(From Sarah With Joy)
Hmm, yes ;-)
Deletecongrats on your lovely award. You deserve it. I would not re-live jr. high or high school. I would re-live college and probably flunk out - I would go to Pepperdine University which overlooks Malibu Beach Ca........now you know why I'd flunk out. Also, I would not be a business major - boring - instead I'd take some funky English classes and would never be able to get a real job. Bam - I'd be where I am now...........ha!
ReplyDeleteColleges at the beach really shouldn't be allowed!
DeleteCongrats on the award, Annalisa!
ReplyDeleteApart from writing/blogging, the other activity that consumes most of my time is music... in all its glory... playing, listening, writing, learning, tutoring... so that's probably what I'd be doing...
... or reading books!
Writer In Transit
I wish I was musical. I love listening to it, but cannot create it!
DeleteLove your answer for 5!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on #2.

ReplyDeleteI have absolutely no clue...if I weren't a writer, I'm not sure what I'd do.
