Too much to do

It is probably obvious to my new followers that I a) don't post as regularly as I do during the A-Z challenge and b) there aren't many flash fiction posts. Perhaps I should do more fiction on this blog, but I prefer to write things that I might be able to sell, and if I post them here I won't be able to do that. Also, it will become obvious that I spend my time taking photos like this...

... instead of writing, posting and generally keeping on top of my to-do list.

However, the reason I take a lot of alcohol and nice-view pictures is because I spend some of my time listening to my husband gigging (Peter Crawford, in case you're really new here - he mostly gigs in Cornwall, Devon, Cheltenham, Belgium and Germany). And that will also explain why I take nice-view photos through windows rather than being outside!

My current to-do list includes making more use of my mailing list and writing a new novel.

I was doing well with the new novel, which was actually going to be a rewrite of an old novel, Until I realised that it was awful, certain events made no sense whatsoever, it was set in London even though I've only been there twice, and I'd used a narrative device which I mutated to use in Cat & The Dreamer, so I can't really use the same device again.

So, I've taken it back to the drawing board and letting my imagination run riot... and it is!

As for my mailing list goal, why not sign up to see how I get on...

    2. Yes, you have Alex - not that you'd remember because I've sent a sum of one whole email so far :-)

  2. I'll just stop by to check how you're doing. I get too much in my inbox currently as we are trying to sell and buy elsewhere for hub's benefit. He suffered a major heart attack last year, and I'm looking after him. I always judge where to spend my time by titles in the feed, or if I like the blog, I'll visit when I can. Your fiction was great, but publishing it is more important. I've been thinking of doing more subbing, but I have to wait til I get time. I checked out your hubs' blog, how neat to be able to accompany him in his work. And listen to music. I help with book launches and book reviews occasionally so drop by my place (blog) to check. I'm featuring Milo James Fowler today, and his scifi serial novel (I like the concept of serials).

    1. I just meant sign up to see if I actually manage to put out a mailing, at the moment it's not certain :-)

Thanks for checking out Peter's website. I agree that submitting takes a lot of time. I should be writing but I keep researching new agents to add to my list... It's becoming a very long list!

Sometimes its good to let it stew. I'm sure it will all come together, quite unexpectedly, better than ever!

    Enjoy your weekend! :)

    1. To give you a hint, I changed which character dies three times in my gym session. I'm back around to the original character now. Happy birthday :-)

    1. Thanks for signing up, Joanne. I mentioned it a lot when I set the list up, and then didn't do very much. I sometimes don't have very much to say. Thanks for the vote of confidence - again (you always say the right things!) - but I'm at the very start, and that is never a very smooth ride for me. Pop back in about 3 years, and it'll be awesome :-)

  5. That's great that you and your imagination are having fun with the new novel. I'm not on the mailing list, mostly because I never read my emails, but I'll be dropping by more regularly now that I've got a bit more free time. Enjoy the wine and the view! :-)

    1. Me and my imagination are battling over the new novel... is that the same? :-) You're not missing anything by not being on the mailing list - I usually share everything here anyway!

  6. Hi Annalisa,

I'm already subscribed. However, I just double-checked and it has been confirmed.

Let your imagination run riot. I had to reread one part of your post. Thought it said something about your husband "giggling" :) Doh, it's "gigging"!

All the best with your ongoing writing endeavours. Enjoy your Sunday.

  8. Hmmm ... I can think of worse ways to spend my time than photographing alcohol and view pictures from Cornwall, Devon, Cheltenham, Belgium and Germany! Please carry on!

    1. Unfortunately, I only manage to go to the Cornwall and Devon gigs (the local ones). But I think there really should be more photos on this blog - maybe even one of the gig I'm watching :-)

  9. There is nothing wrong with taking good pictures. You never know when they might just inspire you to write a great scene. I should take more photos, but only remember to do so after the oportunity to do so has passed. Wishing you all the best with your writing.

    1. Yes, I should take more photos too. I was thinking of posting more on my website blog, which is currently more of a big advert for my books. I'm looking for a photo blog hop to join, if you hear of any.

  13. ACK! Blogger ate my second comment too! Silly blogger, I will not be silenced!

I was just realizing that my muse only functions when it is somehow rebelling. As in, it only works when it isn't supposed to be working. This is sort of fitting that my imagination is tied to a form of disobedience as I always follow the rules but sort of hate that I do.

    1. Silly Blogger, indeed!

I suppose it's good to have a muse at all, however disobedient :-) Following the rules is so boring.

  15. I love that photo. My kind of day. And I am new enough that I didn't know your husband was a singer/songwriter. Cool. You two make quite the creative team. Good luck with the writing. I've been struggling to start a new project for a while, so I know it can be hard to go in a new direction like that.

    1. I'm usually at the mercy of my muse, and unfortunately she's gone on a very long holiday at the moment. Everything I start ends up scribbled out. Not even my tried and tested fountain pen is giving me any inspiration. Hope your new project goes more smoothly than mine :-)

  17. Hi Annalisa .. you'll work something out ... and I've emailed your post to Fil - fre Peter and his gigs etc ... Sometimes we need to switch off .. and mull .. then things start to gel again ... I'm doing just that! Cheers Hilary

I like seeing your alcohol and view pictures. :)

Good luck fixing up your story :)

    1. I'll try to remember I have a newsletter at all, in that case Nick :-) My re-energising has including throwing out most of the plot and putting the protag in a completely different setting. At the moment, it's safe to say I have no idea what I'm doing at all :-)

  24. I did get burnt out from the A-Z challenge last year and have been extremely lazy since in posting. I feel bad about that so I'm going to start up again. I'll sign up for your newsletter (something I have to think about producing myself) and good luck with your novel! By the way, I'm sitting on my exercise ball!

    1. It's a tough challenge. I thought I'd get right back into the swing of writing every day, but it hasn't happened so much. Although, my muse is working hard in the background, so I'm writing really - even if it looks like I'm lying around eating chocolate!

Good to hear your on the ball - hope you haven't fallen off :-)
