IWSG... Baring my soul

It's April... Happy A-Z Challenge, guys. My A post will be along a little later, but there's a reason I'm doing my Insecure group post first...

I'm completely insecure about my challenge entries.

I'm doing flash fiction/vignette/a bit of random rambling in fiction form - and I know, because people have told me, that several people are really looking forward to reading some new fiction from me.

But the problem is... all the fiction I've ever put out has been edited to death - continually being tweaked for several months/years - and my A-Z posts only came into being at the beginning of March. They are raw, open, stark. I feel like I'm baring my soul!

Okay, I'm done being a wimp. I'm going to let them out into the world now...

Today's challenge post will be posted at 8am GMT; the rest of the month will be posted at 6am GMT.

  1. Deep breath and relax. I'm sure it's going to be great, Annalisa. Will check out the 'A' post later.

  3. Annalisa, I've just read your 'A' story, and I don't think you have anything to worry about! I think 'raw' writing is sometimes better than when we've edited a story to death - you get more of a sense of the characters and their emotions that way :).

  4. I do hear you. I tend to stress in the same way, but I'm sure you'll do fine. Your readers want you to succeed.

  5. I'm in pretty much the same situation; all the posts I've written so far are pretty rushed, but I'm just glad that I've actually done some writing. Looking forward to reading yours!

  6. You're taking a risk and that's always kind of scary. Good for you! Most of my stories for last year's A-Z were previously unpublished, and I felt so anxious about putting them up on my blog. It worked out wonderfully though! :)

  8. I'm looking forward to some raw fiction! I'm the same. I've been throwing up 100 word stories for the past week, not much thought into them, just seeing what came out of a word in a dictionary. I do wonder how some of them will be received, but your first entry is fantastic!

  11. Letting it out is brave and freeing. This challenge may breath confidence into you and your muse, so let it go and see what comes of it. I read your first entry, and it was good. One down. ;)
