Today I am somewhere else...

I am sharing some tips on How to Write Scary, over on Write...Edit...Publish today - and no, I don't mean forget to put your make-up on!

  1. Oh yea - make up .. I need that!! Scary it is!! I'll see you over there ... creepy crawlies in the dark, clambering out of the mists and grabbing a leg ... see you there - cheers Hilary

  2. Yep, Scary is right up my alley. I think you have to know what scares you first and what doesn't and work from there. As nothing scares me anymore, the bar for my own horror novels is high. But it's different for everyone.

  3. I'll head on over.

    My husband showed me a film clip the night before last which scared me so much he had to escort me to the bathroom in the middle of the night. A woman took a selfie and as she snapped a dark figure appeared in the background. She took another - the figure appeared closer. She was obviously a little bit afraid by now and the third one she took, the figure appeared in real and bit into her neck. Aaahhh! I have written ghost stories in the past and enjoyed the process but I have to write them during daylight hours.

  4. read your tips - spot on. Understated menace is very key. And I think having people peer into your work window could be creepy - that adds to your stories, I am sure.

    1. Not creepy anymore, just really annoying... especially when they turn their heads to keep looking after they've walked past... grrr!
