Chocolate and music!

Check out this gorgeous box of handmade German chocolates. Yes, I've eaten one already - it is past 10am, and they've been in the house for two hours. I think I've been quite restrained.

If you've been hanging around my blog, or my Facebook page, recently you'll know that Hubby has been on a five and a half week tour of Germany to promote the digital release of his album Six Strings... Keep Me Sane. Well, he's back! Yay, everything can return to normal.

I made the decision to put my writing on the back burner while he was away to make sure I was on top of everything else, like cooking. I've been scribbling a few flash fictions for the A-Z Challenge, but left larger projects alone; but now I'm really looking forward to getting stuck back in.

Not writing is hard, but sometimes it's necessary. Before Peter went away, I was in a bit of a writing rut - staring at a blank screen, having ideas running through my head, but being unable to put them into words - and now I can't wait to get back to it. My dreams have been getting more and more vivid, which is a sure sign my creative juices are flowing without a proper outlet.

In related news, it's finally light when my alarm goes off in the morning, and when I walked the dog over the last couple of days, I actually had to take my coat off!

  1. Those chocolates look amazing - well done for waiting so long to eat them, I would've torn into them the second I opened them ;). So glad to hear you're feeling more creative :)! I have a theory that my creativity is related to the weather - I'm definitely more productive when the sun is shining and it's light outside. Isn't it great that we're getting sun instead of snow/rain/hail/rain/storms/more rain? Hooray for spring!

    1. He brought back another box, too, that weighs a kilogram - they'll be eaten first so I can really savour this special box. I am so happy to see the sun, and feel some warmth on my skin again. I am very ready for spring!

  3. Glad your husband is back. Hope you can dive back into your writing now. I'd be the opposite - writing while my wife was away to fill the time.

    1. With animals and children, I had my hands full enough. Writing would have kept me way too occupied :-)

  4. you earned the chocolates - the boys are alive, you are still sane, and spring is arriving. Glad your hubby is back, and his tour did sound amazing based on FB posts. I hope he's happy too. Have another chocolate!

  5. Glad the hubby is back and brought you chocolates :) I would have probably eaten the whole box already. I always think that I'll be able to write a ton whenever my fiance is away but it never works out.

    1. There's a bigger box, Sarah, that I didn't photograph. It's a kilogram... well, it's a kilogram minus 4 chocolates ;-)

  6. Congrats to your husband for his tour and album! I'm sure you'll be writing away soon. I prefer the sunshine to write in, but it's still in short supply up here!

P.S. Your Sadie guest post on my blog from June 2013 is now my most viewed post ever!!!

How weird about my Sadie post. I have a random guest post which tops my most-viewed list too!

  8. Yum on the chocolate! And great news you're ready and able to get back to your longer writing projects. When my dreams get vivid, they tend to scare me as they're usually more along the lines of nightmares. :)

  10. Tell your husband congratulations on his tour; that's impressive! And those chocolates look really, really good. Sometimes it's good to take a break from writing; I read somewhere that sometimes it's necessary, because then you can look over your rough drafts with fresh eyes and see things that you might have overlooked when you were reading/writing them every day.

Great that you are inspired to write again - that gives me hope that I will get out of my rut. Hope Hubby's tour was a big success.

    1. That was the extra special, handmade chocolate box... The ones I'm eating at the moment are the not quite so special handmade box, the whole 1kg (2.2lbs) of it!!

Sorry to hear you're in a rut - sending lots of words your way :-)

    1. Glad you ate the chocolate - I'd be worried if you didn't! That particular shop is in Bremen - that's where Hubby is based when he visits. You might get to one of his gigs at some point!

    1. Dreams are brilliant for that, aren't they? I'm going to have another choc from that box tomorrow, Medeia - I've been scoffing some of the less special chocs that Hubby brought back, but it's Mother's Day tomorrow, and I'm worth it ;-)

  15. So pleased he's home and bringing chocolate with him - they look good. Brilliant that he's making music and utilising his passion .. and as you say - now it's time for you to get stuck in to your writing .. Spring is here, dog walks to let the brain settle ... and yes time to start shedding a few layers of clothes ...

Cheers and enjoy the warming weather .. Hilary

It must be a relief to have your hubby back, and things returning to normal.
Nothing like familiar routine to help get the creativity back on track!
You mentioned writing a few flash fictions for the AtoZ challenge. I'm also doing FF for the AtoZ.
So I'll see you around on the AtoZ challenge circuit!

    1. The closer I get, the more nervous I am about it - usually I edit my fiction to death, whereas my non-fiction blog posts are dashed out quickly. I don't have time to edit as much - I'm still writing them!!

    1. They really are too nice (and expensive) to eat all at once, Kim. I ate the second one yesterday. But he did bring a bigger box back too, and so I've been scoffing those :-)
