But now... well I'm a little bit nervous now. This project has been at the back of my mind for a while - and to be honest, I've mentioned it on some of my comments on other blogs - but there's a different between thinking and mentioning and actually announcing.
So...
... my next project is a collection of short stories called That Sadie Thing and other stories.
This is my greatest hits collection - each of the stories has been published and/or placed in competitions.
Some of the magazines I've been published in (just very slightly before the rise of the internet - no sarcastic comments about my age please!) had a circulation of about 15 people - and I have the unfortunate distinction that my first four stories heralded the end of the magazines they were published in.
After spending so much time writing these stories, I think they deserve to be a little more widely read. I'm very proud of them all.
If anyone would like to help with my cover launch on the 21st and 22nd February, please email me: annalisacrawford.writer [at] gmail.com (People who took part in my blog tour are let off the hook!)
Thank you, lovely bloggers!
Obviously, I'm in for the cover reveal! :D Can't wait until this book is released!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kyra. You've been brilliant getting this cover off the ground :-)
DeleteSounds like a great project! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jade :-)
DeleteActually it's more of your very own anthology...wow, you blow my mind here. What an amazing idea, congrats and good luck with it :).
ReplyDeleteI suppose it is a sort of anthology. Thank you :-)
DeleteGood luck with it, Annalisa - I hope your book has more luck than those magazines!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too!! I suppose I could cause Amazon to liquidise :-(
DeleteI know what you mean about some of those mags - I've had work in them, too. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the project! I'm aiming for the summer for my collection. :)
Looking back, I was very lucky, although there were a couple that folded before I became good enough for them... I can't remember the names now, but one began with P.
DeleteWhat an excellent idea to gather together old magazine story submissions. That's the good thing about writing for magazines. If I'm not mistaken the copyright reverts to you after they've been published. I may have a think about doing the same thing myself. I too wrote for magazines before the Internet was really the Internet! Good luck with the project.
ReplyDeleteThey were my apprenticeship - and they were definitely where I learnt how to handle rejections!
DeleteThat's so wonderful Annalisa. Best of lucks with this new baby of yours. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Al.
DeleteWonderful news! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd really scary now I've announced it :-)
DeleteThat's awesome, Annalisa! Count me in for the cover reveal. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Rachel :-)
DeleteI can help on the twenty-second. We can announce each others' book covers that day!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds very fair, Alex :-) Thank you.
DeleteWhat a great idea to assemble your stories in a book. Best of luck with the publishing.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope it's as good an idea as I think it is :-)
DeleteI'll be happy to help! I'll send you an email. And I tried to write a series of short stories, but they always end up as being a chapter or small section in my books.
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic, thanks Stephen :-)
DeleteWhat a great idea to showcase your stories. Best to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie!

ReplyDeleteThanks Cherie :-)
DeleteGood luck with your collection!
ReplyDeleteThank you Patsy :-)
DeleteSome of my early stories were printed in a zine that we published on the copy machine at my mother's work. Then we sold them around the high school for a dollar each. I may not have had a big readership, but man, I owned that process!
ReplyDeleteThat's very enterprising, I love that!
DeleteThis is just amazing! Congratulations with your new endeavour. It is really just fantastic and I can't wait to buy my copy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Murees :-)
DeleteI already told you this on Facebook, but I'm so IN to help for your cover reveal! Can't wait to see it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Livia - you're on my list :-)
DeleteHa! I knew someone who believed she was the death knell of ezines. Half the stories she had published were in 'zines that disappeared immediately after her stories appeared. Good luck on your new project. It sounds great! :-)
ReplyDeleteWell between us, your friend and I can kill off all literary ventures lol!
DeleteExciting news!
ReplyDeleteI hope so, Theresa :-)
DeleteBest of luck with your collection!
